Tea Time! - Project Media: Tea and Coffee Mood Board

Writer's picture: Jonalie ZamoraJonalie Zamora

The theme for this month is tea and coffee! In the September sneak peek post, I mentioned that I don't drink coffee but I love tea! No one in my family drinks coffee, so it was a challenge to take pictures of that. Also, since I always make my tea the American way (a tea bag and a microwave), I don't have many cool pictures of tea or coffee lying around. Along with that, I barely visit cafés, and I usually don't take pictures while I'm there. As a result, this mood board didn't turn out as nice as would've liked it to, and the post ended up taking more effort than I thought it would!

I drew the "Welcome to the Café!" art on my kitchen whiteboard because I think one of the coolest parts of a café is its chalkboard art. The "Tea" picture is just a close-up of a stylish tea box I got for Christmas. The picture with two mugs has my favorite chamomile mug (chamomile tea used to be my favorite before I discovered spiced chai and pumpkin spice) and a mug I got from theatre in high school, along with random vintage-ish books and some pretty blue flowers my boyfriend bought me for my high school graduation <3. I tried to imitate the vibe of a table in a café haha. Finally, the picture in the bottom right corner is a mug of spiced chai on my personal desk.

I would've loved to get some pictures of a café, since I adore the cozy and warm atmospheres of cafés. For example, there's a café in my town with a charming rustic vibe to it :D. I did get a few café pics with some help from a friend though! She works at a café, and the two Colectivo coffees were made and photographed by her! Aren't they cool?

I heavily associate tea with the autumn season, mainly because I love pumpkin spice tea and spiced teas in general. Tea just pairs up really well with cozy sweaters and warm fireplaces and fluffy blankets. I also like how tea often has a rich orange-ish, reddish, or brownish color to it, since it fits in with the changing colors of leaves in fall. While I don't drink coffee, I really love how it smells! It has a really sweet and pleasant aroma. I like the light brown color that comes from coffee stains. I associate coffee with early mornings, late nights, and a long day of work XD.

Fun fact! In my Business Administration class (I'm in college right now), we're doing a semester-long simulation of running a café! I'm interested in potentially opening a bakery and café when I'm older, so I think it's going to be a fun and interesting experience.
